Corner Booth

In the corner booth
Sits a girl
Who looks like a girl
I had known long ago
Same side profile
Pageboy blonde
An air of hard
Curves of soft
Steely blue eyes
Glance from phone
Around the restaurant
Our eyes meet
For the briefest of moments
A face
I’ve not seen before
Framed in once
Pink hair
Any connection
I may have had
With this lonely woman
Shattered
But yet
Empathy
Reaches out to her
As her glance about the room
Ended
Returned to her phone
Upon the table
A pair of silverware
A pair of menus
A pair of virginal water glasses
Untouched
She stands to leave
She had been
Stood up
