Boston Nightmare

I imagine another dimension
One where I was at a different place
I had been one who had reached ascension
A marathon runner lost in that race
Twenty-six long hard miles had gone past
Muscles ached, spirit drained, on my last legs
There’s just a bit further before I’m gassed
My only thoughts were of bacon and eggs
Somehow my legs churned, sprinted towards the end
Explosions shattered cheers, ripped apart sky
Blood and gore flowed, I can’t comprehend
Knocked to concrete with no pain, I did die
But, here I watch the news, hungry for more
Wanting violence to end, this I implore
